If your kids are anything like mine they may need some gentle persuasion to go out for a walk and get some much needed fresh air away from their electronic devices. I’m always on the lookout for new ways to get them interested in the great outdoors and asking questions about nature. One of my favourite activities on a walk is making a nature band with the kids. It’s the easiest activity to set up ever.
All you need is some gaffa tape (electrical tape works well for tiny wrists). Scissors and a willing (or not so) participant. Wrap the tape around the wrist, sticky side facing out, or alternatively around the waist to make a belt ( don’t try headbands as it ends in tears – I know!) and off you go collecting anything from leaves to flowers to small pine cones.
You can make it a competition or even chose a theme like pretty in pink or Aztec princess. I’ve tried this in the autumn, spring and summer and it always produces some unique creations and makes the walk so much more interactive.
